Puerto Rican volleyball player Hector "Picky" Soto has been awarded the inaugural IVHF Mayoral Award of Excellence by the Volleyball Hall of Fame. The award was presented to Soto in his hometown of Arroyo, Puerto Rico, where he was celebrated for his outstanding career as a professional volleyball player.
Soto is considered one of the most accomplished volleyball players to come out of Puerto Rico. He has represented his country in numerous international competitions, including the 2006 FIVB World Championship where he was named the top scorer of the tournament. Soto also had a successful professional career, playing for some of the top teams in leagues around the world.
The Mayoral Award of Excellence is a fitting tribute to Soto's contributions to the sport of volleyball. The award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport of volleyball and who have served as role models to others. Soto is certainly deserving of this award, having inspired countless young players in Puerto Rico and beyond.
